Swimmers swept the Sportsman and Sportswoman awards in the 2013/2014 Sarawak state sports awards held here tonight.
Wilson Sim Wee Sheng was crowned Sportsman of the Year while Erika Kong Chia Chia took the Sportswoman title.
Both swimmers who had represented the country in the 2013 SEA in Myanmar, received RM5,000 cash, trophy and certificate each.
Sandra Tiong from athletics took the Sportswoman award in the Paralympic category while shuttler Suhaili Laiman won the Sportsman award in the same category.
Both received RM2,500, trophy and certificate each.
Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem gave away the prizes.
The Best Women’s Team award and the Best Men’s Team awards went to the women’s and men’s volleyball teams.

Best Coach: Catherine Lambor (women’s hockey)
Sports Leadership Award: Datuk Moh Wung Ming (Sarawak Volleyball Association head coach)
Most Promising Female Athlete: Esmelda Menti Alfred Geling (Gymnastics)
Most Promising Male Athlete: Mohd Amirul Juwanda (Taekwondo).
During the awards night, the Mascot for the 2016 SUKMA to be hosted by Sarawak, Satria (Hornbill), was also unveiled and the official website for the games, http://www.sukmasarawak2016.my was also launched.
The 2016 SUKMA to be held from July 22 to 31 will feature 24 sports and held in Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Sibu and Miri.
